Turbo Sonidero

Turbo Sonidero (Roman Zepeda) is a producer and DJ from East Side San José, California, with roots in Puebla, Mexico. A key figure in the new cumbia wave, he carved out his own lane by fusing sonidero rhythms with rap, hip hop, and broken basslines — the hybrid sound he calls “Tumbia.”

Co-founder of Kumbia Net and Discos Pirámide, and member of Grupo Jejeje alongside Arrabalero, Turbo has built an underground universe of edits, archives, and original cuts that move between barrios and global dancefloors.

His album Lowrider Kumbias (2022) reimagined oldies with electro-cumbia riddims, a tribute to his upbringing between California’s lowrider culture and Mexico’s sonidero tradition. The record cemented him as one of the most inventive voices in the movement.

Recognized worldwide as a catalyst of the new cumbia boom, Turbo’s sets are pure combustion: sonidero roots, digital edits, and basslines that hit hard. At Kumbionik, expect nothing less than fire.
